Title (Max 100 Characters)
Audiobook listeners now have another option for downloading and checking out their favorite books from the Rock Island Public Library. The library has subscribed to OneClickdigital, an easy-to-use web service that provides downloadable access to thousands of digital audiobooks from Recorded Books and other major publishers.
“We are always looking for new avenues to serve the needs of our patrons,” says Tricia Kane, director of extensions, Rock Island Library. “Adding OneClickdigital provides us with another way to satisfy patron demand for downloadable audiobooks. This collection of more than 3,500 titles serves many diverse reading options and allows us to be responsive to the requests of our patrons.”
OneClickdigital provides Rock Island Library patrons with a selection of 3,600 audiobook titles for adults, children and young adults. Many titles are multi-access, meaning multiple users can check out a given title at the same time. All titles are iPod®-compatible. Patrons may check out 10 titles at a time. Books can be listened to on a computer, transferred to a supported audio device or put directly on an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad using the free app.
To use the service, users create a free OneClickdigital user account with their Rock Island Library card and PIN. Checkout choices range from one to 21 days, with the option to renew titles once or return them early. The OneClick site offers user-friendly help features, including tutorial videos and frequently asked questions. The website also offers options for viewing new releases, saving and narrowing searches, and an iPhone app for mobile downloading.
Rock Island Library patrons can register for a free webinar from OneClick on Tuesday, July 24, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm CDT. The 45-minute web-based training shows how to create a user account, install the OneClickdigital Media Manager, search for content, manage checkouts, and download and transfer audiobooks to listening devices. To sign up for the online training, visit the library website at www.rockislandlibrary.org.
The OneClickdigital subscription was made possible by funding from the Milan Blackhawk Area Public Library District board. Residents of the Milan-Blackhawk area library district qualify for a free Rock Island Library card. Other digital library services include OverDrive digital media for both eBooks and audiobooks and the TumbleBooks AudioBook Cloud.
